“Looking for light in the midst of the swift scroll and swipe”

Today, we live in an age where science can be accessed in seconds. Just open Youtube, look for your favorite ustaz, or open a viral tiktok preaching – like science comes. But, in the midst of the heavy information, we need to ask: Are we still guarding adab when studying?

This article will invite you to reflect lightly, but in depth. Come on, let’s discuss!

Science is light, and adab is the lenter of the guide

In the world of pesantren, there is a very famous expression:

Literature before science

Meaning: “Adab is prioritized before knowledge.”

Why? Because Science without manners can make someone arrogant, rude, even feel the most correct. Imam Malik Rohimahulloh once said:

We learned literature before we study science

Meaning: “We learn adab before studying knowledge.” (Look Must ‘Bayan Al-‘Ibn Abdil Barr)

In this digital age, we can learn from anywhere. But, unfortunately, sometimes the missing is The spirit of the process demands knowledge itself: respect, service, and courtesy.

Don’t make knowledge just consumption quickly

Platforms such as Youtube and Tiktok make it easier for us to access talks, studies, and reducing scholars. But remember:

Science is not entertainment. Science is not content.
Science is Prophetic legacy It must be treated respectfully. SWT SWT says:

God raised those who believe in you and those who have provided knowledge

Meaning: “Alloh will raise people believed and given knowledge about several degrees.” (Surah Al-Mujadilah verse 11)

Book Ta’līmul mut’allim The work of Imam Az-Zarnuji Rahimahullah asserted:

Science doesn’t give you a few until you give it to you

Meaning: “Science will not give some of him to you, unless you give all of you to him.”

If we only watch lectures while lying down, listen to the study while scrolling comments – Could science really enter the heart?

Respect the teacher even behind the scenes

In the past, the students walked tens of kilometers for the sake of meeting the teacher and kissing his hands. Today? We just click, then watch Ustaz from all over the world. But… Is respect still there?

Imam al-Khatib al-Bghdadi Dalam Al-Jam ‘Likhlq with Rawai write:

And if the teacher sits between the teacher’s knowledge

Meaning: “When sitting in front of a teacher, courtesy and humility, and first -first the teacher.”

Although studying online, Respect the teacher:

  • Listen calmly
  • Not cutting videos just because “less attractive”
  • Avoid nosy comments or judge scholars just because of differences

Focus while learning, not multitasking

Knowledge manners also mean giving full attention. Don’t learn while opening two tabs: one study, one watching a dance cat roll. Imam Asy-Shafi’i Rohimahulloh said:

I have not kept science except by leaving linguistics and eating a sweet taste

Meaning: “I cannot memorize knowledge except by leaving things in vain and sweet food.”

Demanding science solemn ‘and focus. Then when studying online:

  • Turn off the notification
  • Record important points
  • Pay attention to the intention of finding the pleasure of Allah SWT, not virality

Don’t just be a consumer, but practice

The most important behavior in pursuing knowledge is Train. In the Qur’an, God condemns knowledge but does not practice:

Like trash, he brought a trip

Meaning: “(their metaphor) like a donkey carrying a book.” (Surah Al-Jumu’ah verse 5)

Imam Ibnul Jauzi Di Witness said:

Flag, but the seven jobs

Meaning: “Science without charity like a lion without fangs.”

So, after watching a da’wah video, ask:
What can I change in me?

Choose the contents of authentic science, not just viral

One of the most important behaviors today: Choose a trusted source of knowledge. Do not just take from a lot of accounts, but it is not clear sanad and understanding. Imam Ibn Sirin said:

This knowledge is religion, so see those who take your religion

Meaning: “Indeed this knowledge is religion, so see who you take your religion.” (Muqaddimah Sahih Muslim)

Find the teacher Clearly his knowledge, his property, and manners. Do not let us “learn religion” from accounts with comedy styles that actually play with Islamic law.

Closing: Back to Adab, Back to Blessing

Demanding knowledge in that digital age Easy, fast, and spacious. But precisely because it is too easy, we sometimes lose Service and courtesy.

But the road is only a way to heaven if passed with adab. Come on, we maintain our intentions, attitudes, and respect when learning. Because knowledge is light, and Light will not enter a proud or default heart.

Hope it is useful. Wallohu a’lam.
